SIMA Hosts its First WKA Race

The buzz since the Grand Opening of Sumas International Racing Academy still resonates as people get geared up for the first race at the new kart track. The much anticipated Westwood Club Race will be held September 11 & 12. On top of the regular WKA routine, drivers should expect to see SIMA Café opening its doors, IMUSA’s parts and service in full swing, and SIMA’s Kart Rentals available to take for a spin. In celebration of the inaugural WKA event SIMA will be holding the “Race to Utopia”- a ladies only race.

SIMA Café is a classy Italian inspired coffee shop situated at the corner of the building with a great view of the track. The café will be open throughout the weekend, offering fresh baked goods, specialty coffee, ice cream, cold cuts and chilled beverages.

IMUSA is the North American distributor for major brands such as Italkart, IAME Parilla, TM, MIR Racewear, Arroxx Racewear and Bell Helmets. Our onsite showroom is fully stocked with chassis and engine spare parts, fuel, lubricants, racewear as well as full kart and engine packages.

All you ladies looking to get into the seat of a kart will finally have your chance. On Saturday night the ladies “Race to Utopia” winner will walk away with a $50 gift certificate to the renowned Spa Utopia. Entry fee is $35 which includes the rental kart and helmet. An eight person minimum is required for this race to take place.

For those interested in camping on site, motor homes may be parked on the property beginning Friday morning free of charge. Please note there is limited space. A list of nearby hotel accommodations is found at the bottom of the page. The best time to cross the border is from 7:00 to 9:00 am or after 6:00pm.

Practice on Saturday will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Sunday morning will begin with two hours of practice followed by two heat races and the final event. Drivers are reminded to bring a friend for Try-A-Kart on Sunday during lunch. In addition, all baby karts can whiz around the track during Sunday lunch.

Italian Motors and Westwood Karting have a strong history of bringing karting to the lower mainland for the past 22 years. Italian Motors/SIMA are honoured and excited to host this event. This is sure to be the WKA race of the season giving racers an opportunity to hone their skills at a new circuit. Don’t miss it.
